Definition: what is resignation?

Resignation is the attitude and way of thinking of a person who finds himself in an (apparently) unchangeable situation and comes to terms with this fate. Typical are a feeling of hopelessness, helplessness and powerlessness . In addition, there is the desperation that a change or a desired goal cannot be achieved through your own efforts.

Synonymous with resignation are also spoken of self- surrender, lack of drive , hopelessness or of accepting and joining in a situation. The term originally comes from the Latin resignare and means surrender or give up.
